Back from a Fun Trip

Last week, Blake and I went on a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.   We had a great time and are going back with the kids in June.  We liked it that much!  This was our first time to travel to the Dominican Republic.  The Dominican Republic is located on the island of Hispaniola and takes up 2/3 of the island while Haiti takes up the other portion of the island.  From my understanding, the majority of the people living on the island are of European or African descent and speak Spanish. The people of the Dominican Republic are very friendly.  Here are some photos from our trip! If you ever want more information on this beautiful destination, contact our travel agent, which is my mom!

Waiting List Milestone

Another month down. Hopefully we are getting closer to a referral phone call.  For this month's number picture, I found something really fitting.  In several blog posts, I've talked about our little catchphrase "The Eagle Has Landed."  Lately, that eagle keeps popping up everywhere.  On the airplane last week, I was watching a documentary about the first man on the moon and heard Neil Armstrong say "The Eagle has landed." Of course it made me think of our adoption.  Then, they showed the patch for Apollo 11 and how fitting is this!   That's my photo for our 11th month waiting! This was the patch for the Apollo 11 mission. Find out more about the patch here.   Could this be the month the eagle lands?  Wouldn't that be cool.  If not, I doubt I can top this for month 12.

A Word about Waiting...from the Prince of Preachers

Did you know that Charles Spurgeon is known as the "Prince of Preachers?"  Well, I came across a few good quotes of his this week that I thought I'd pass along to you!
If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts; for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for. The waiting itself is beneficial to us: it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission, and endears the blessing when it comes. The Lord's people have always been a waiting people. Birthday Weekend

We had a fun weekend.  To celebrate Molly's 10th birthday and have a little family fun, we went to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas...not far from where we live!  Blake and I had never been before but the girls had each been once before.  To go on the kids' favorite water slides, you had to climb what seemed like 50 stories of steps to get up there.  So, by the time we got home, we were all very tired!

Part of the fun is the rooms you can stay in. The room we got had a little cabin in the middle of it with a bunk bed and twin bed. Then outside of that, a queen bed and couch bed.  What kid wouldn't like staying in a cabin inside a hotel room!

To finish off the great weekend, Blake and the girls took me out to lunch Sunday after church and gave me a wonderful gift!  A new camera!  I am so excited to use it!
But, the best Mother's Day gift I could ever have is the two wonderful children God has blessed me with and the one/s that will come in the future through adoption!

My baby is 10

As I was tucking Molly into bed this week she said "Mommy, thank you for giving birth to me 10 years ago. And thank you for keeping me."
I can't believe it has been a decade since I give birth to my baby.  Our precious Molly, is 10 today.  Where has time gone.  A few months before getting pregnant with Molly, I had a miscarriage.  I was devastated.  Little did I know, two months later, I'd get pregnant with Molly. What a special gift from God.  Not long after Molly was born, Emily turned 4. Before Molly was born, I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have another child after just having Emily for almost 4 years! I'm sure she wast thinking the same thing!  Wondering what was about to rock her "only child" world!  Even in the womb, Molly was sucking her thumb as you see in the ultrasound below.

The biggest historical event I can remember happened in 2001, when Molly was just 4 months old.  We had just gotten up that morning and my mother in law called to see if I was watching TV.  The first plane had hit the World Trade Center. The rest of that day, I sat in front of the TV.  Now, 10 years later, Osama Bin Laden has been captured.  I can't believe it took Molly's whole life to do find him!  A few weeks after that event, we headed to Disney World for Molly's first trip.  It was a little scary to fly right after the events of September 11 but the upside was, the lines were minimal at Disney World!

So, now my sweet Molly is one decade old.  We are blessed beyond measure to have two wonderful daughters and look forward to adding a boy or two to our family.  Just the other day, Molly said she wants us to adopt not one, but two boys so that we can get a bunk bed in our house!

Happy 10th Birthday Molly!

Molly on the TOMS Website

Here's a screen shot of the TOMS's Website where Molly's photo is.  This weekend, I submitted the picture I took of her in her first pair of TOMS and today they put it on their Website.  The direct link to the page is here.
